Fred Adams (guitar, bass guitar, banjo, songwriting): is a lifetime resident of Fayette County, Pennsylvania and a lifetime guitarist. “I started playing guitar when I was eight years old, and haven’t put it down for 50 years.” Fred has played just about every type of music in every setting, including rock, jazz, country, bluegrass, big-band standards, show tunes, and classical music in bar bands, theater bands, orchestras, jazz ensembles, and as a solo performer. Trained as a guitarist by the late Ralph Dougal of Clarksville, and Dr. James Lucas, formerly of Washington & Jefferson College, Fred has a strong background in traditional music theory and performance. He is also a songwriter and composer, having written theater music and songs for band and solo performance. His original songs appear on his two CDs, The Doctor is In, and Searchin’ for a Vein. Fred is a retired English professor from Penn State’s Fayette campus, and his Ph.D. in American Literature gives him a solid background in literature, especially writing poetry, which makes him a capable lyricist.
